Mother's Day!

For Mother's Day, the whole family got together and went fishing at Yankee Meadows Reservoir, near Parowan. Lloyd & I took Mandi's girls with us (I had to work Saturday-day shift & Mandi worked the night shift) and went to Bud & Tami's to stay the night there. Saturday morning, Mandi & Jake came with their new bass boat, and we all left for the reservoir. Jeff & Kim, and Mike & Jessie met us there. Jake ferried most of us to a cove that Buddy said was pretty good fishing. Jeff, Kim, and a few of the kids walked around, wading through some snow in their flip-flops. Who expected there to still be snow for Mother's Day? It was a bit chilly when the wind blew, but a fun day. The little girls had fun playing in the water, and everyone had fun fishing from the boat. Thanks Mandi & Jake! All of the 'big' girls took a turn in the boat...and left the men to tend to the kids. It was really tempting to stay out in the middle for the rest of the day (LOL), but the guys started calling us back...so we slowly went back to shore! I think that 9 fish were caught, and Tami was the 'fishing queen' for the day...she out-fished us all!!

Vacation with Jess & Mike

I have been trying to find time to share a vacation we took with Jessie & Mike the end of April. They have a timeshare/membership with WorldMark, and invited us to go to McCall, Idaho with them...to go fishing. None of us had been there before, and thought it sounded great! We left Cedar City at 7:00 a.m., on April 22...with clothes, jackets & coats, snacks, cameras, tackle boxes, fishing gear, chairs, and cool box...and Jessie's car was full to the top! We drove straight to McCall (with a few pit-stops). Mom's family is from this part of Idaho, so it was fun to see some of the places she remembers from her childhood. The scenery got really pretty north of Boise, as we climbed the mountains to McCall. The highway follows along the Payette River, which was high and rapid. The pine forests, farmlands, horse & cattle ranges, lakes, old barns & houses, and snow covered mountains were awesome! We arrived at our very nice 'apartment' in McCall about 6:30p.m. After we unpacked, we enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner out, then took a quick tour of the town's main streets. McCall is a pretty place on the shore of Payette Lake. The next morning, we bought fishing liscenses and hit the lake. It SNOWED on us and was very cold! The other 3 'die-hards' fished in the snow flurry all day...but I had taken a good book, and enjoyed reading it...in the car! They rest of our stay, the weather was nicer, and we fished at Payette Lake, Cascade Lake, the Payette River, and Horse-Thief Reservoir. Everyone caught a fish or two. My niece Kelly, her hubby Jon, and their baby (golden lab) met us on Saturday and we had a great visit while fishing. We hadn't seen Kelly for 6years! We were sad to see our 5 days come to an end, but Jessie took tons of pics (Lloyd left my camera in the car...in Cedar City!), so we have lots of reminders of 5 great days spent together! Thanks Jessie and Mike for the memories...and you're a good driver, Mike! Thanks for sharing the pics, Jessie! We love you guys!

Busy!

Last week-end, the Millett crew came for a short visit. It was a work trip, but we found the time to run out to the Kanab Fort with them, so their kids and Tami could see it. We met at the Staton house, grabbed some MickeyD's, and off we went. It was a beautiful day, and very warm, and a fun little trip. Lloyd and I have 6 of our grandkids involved in sports or other activities this month. Dallen is in Minor league baseball, Sierra is playing 'coach pitch', and Jentry is in T-ball. They are all good players, and keep Kim busy running 3 different schedules...along with her cub scouts & school activities. Lloyd & I have made it to each of their first games. Rylie is playing T-ball here in Kanab, and we made it to her first game. Beau is also playing T-ball in Parowan, but we haven't made it to his yet, as he has only had one so far. We will get over there again in the next week or two. We were there the other night for Baylee's piano recital. She is doing really good! She is in 4-H doing horsemanship, also. Her horse, Millie, is a REALLY big horse. We hope to make it to one of her shows, and one of Beau's games in the same trip. We have to attend most of the kids games, etc. after work...and it sure is hard to keep up! We love to go and support them whenever we can make it! We love them all very much!
Besides...we'd just have to stay home and do yard work if we didn't have somewhere to go! LOL!

Busy...

For Easter, we went to the Johansen's to BBQ with them, Cammie, the Giamalvas', and the Cleveland clan. Gary was the 'grill-master', and we had lots of yummy salads & good food to way over-eat! LOL! After we stuffed ourselves, the kids hunted Easter eggs and played. We taught some of the family members how to play Turnabout, one of our favorite card games. It took a long time with 9 of us playing....we had lots of time to eat our strawberry cake. It was a really fun day. Thanks Patti & Sid for being such great hosts! We love you!

We've been busy...

Gosh...how did April fly by so fast? We went fishing at Otter Creek a couple of times in April. The first time we nearly froze to death. Buddy was the only one to catch a fish, but the time we spend together is always fun! The next time, Lloyd, Jessie, and Mike all caught fish. The fish have been spawning, so they are close to the shore. All of the ones that were caught were 18"-22" long...and very tasty!
