Our 1st 4-wheelin' ride of 2009!

Last Saturday, we all had 'cabin-fever' and just had to get out of the house! It was a beautiful sunny day here, and we decided to go for a ride. Mandi & girls, Jeff, Kim & kids, Jolene & boys, and Lloyd & I packed up some hot dogs and chips and headed out. We went out by the old Kanab Fort, and had alot of fun riding around, looking for pretty rocks, and roasting hot dogs! The fort is in pretty bad shape, but it was fun to see it. Lloyd heard once, that the original fort burned down...and this one was built for making movies. We aren't sure if that is the real story, but the kids enjoyed seeing it. Anyway, it's neat to think of the old westerns filmed there, with the 'good old boys' walking around those same places. We took our kids there years ago, but they do not remember it. The grandkids found some old cans, nails, and other treasures. They packed them around for awhile, and then left them for someone else to find! They had a good time digging in the sand when we stopped for lunch. It was great to be outdoors in the fresh air and sunshine!

Joseph: Nashville's Tribute to the Prophet

On Saturday, March 21st, our Stake was given the opportunity to attend the 'Joseph' concert in Cedar City. It was too bad that it was also the night of our Jr. Prom here... but Lexie, Mariah, and I went to the concert. Talk about an 'awesome' experience! This group also wrote and recorded 'Trek' A Nashville Tribute to the Pioneers. The music was great, and you could really feel the spirit there. Jason Deere, who wrote nearly all of the songs, plays guitar, and sings...had to be inspired to write such a great tribute to Joseph Smith! Dan Truman, from Diamond Rio, put the group together. He plays piano and sings in the band. The trio 'Due West', also play and sing with the group. They had the girl who portrays Emma Smith, in the movie 'Emma', with them to sing a couple of songs. When she sang the song 'Emma' it gave us cold chills. Lexie & I both bought the CD afterwards. We had a great time! We are learning about our newest value, Virtue, in Young Women's this month. Lexie & I both think that Emma Smith was truly a virtuous woman...and we watched the movie 'Emma' for YW last night. It was really good, but grab a kleenex before you watch it!
